The ph scale in your everyday life

History behind the pH scale
Have you ever wondered why some of our foods taste so sour or acidic while others don't taste as sour or can be basic? Well in today's world one can measure how acidic or basic a food is all thanks to a Danish chemist named Soren Peder Lauritz Sorensen. He was a well known scientist in his time and won many awards. During his research with amino acids, hydrogens and enzymes he developed the pH scale in which he based of what was acidic and what was basic by measuring the power or the amount of Hydrogen ion concentration that was present in a solution. He did this by having the pH scale expand from 0-14, 0 being highly acidic, 14 being highly basic and 7 being neutral. The pH scale and our bodies Now in today's world the pH scale can appear almost anywhere from our batteries to our bodies. Our bodies are however one of the main things we need to pay attention to when it comes to the pH scale, no one wants to suffer from a disease because their pH scale was off balance. Our bodies pH is normally a 7.4, a bit basic but close to neutral. In order to keep our body this way one needs to make sure they balance what they eat with it being neutral and acidic. If a person's body becomes too acidic it can create problems for them such as creating arthritis, heart disease and even kidney failure. Our body can only take so much that even stress could end up making our bodies acidic leading us to health problems. Now for being too basic or being too alkalized it could result in less oxygen being taken by the blood. Both sides can create harmful disease for our bodies and that's why people should balance out their foods whether acidic or basic one should not take in too much of each instead make it equal since the bodies pH level is after all 7.4. As well one could measure their pH scale daily with a litmus paper, saliva or urine and a pH scale, something so easy can lead to a healthy body every day. |
In the image above you see that many fruits that you may think acidic are alkaline or basic but in order to read this graph you need to see the graph as one that shows you what the fruits do to your body and what they form into.
