A positron  is the antimatter counterpart to an electron. A positron has the same mass as an electron and has a 1/2 spin, however a Positron has an electrical charge of +1.

Positron  Facts,  and  usage

Positron is an antimatter of an electron
Positron is also called and anti-electron
Positron emission tomography (PET) this is used in hospitals as a scanner.
A PET scan is useful in revealing or evaluating several conditions, including some cancers, heart disease and brain disorders.
when an atom undergoes a positron decay the number of protons decrease and the number of neutrons increase(it is basically the reverse of the middle image below just flip the arrow).

Positron Decay

A Positron Decay or Positron Emission is a the opposite of beta decay( for the beta decay the symbol would be a negative one instead of a plus one look at Positron symbol).
An example of a Positron decay equation can be seen in the middle image below  with 
Oxygen-> Nitrogen+ Positron

NOTE:When a positron and an electron collide an annihilation happens which results in two or more gamma ray photons
ALSO NOTE: when gamma-ray photons collide an electron and a positron are created
