What if i told you diet soda was actually bad for you? I mean, not good for you at all.. for the most part. Don't believe me? I'll give you six reasons for you to stop drinking diet soda right now. Start counting!
Kidney Problems - Diet sweeteners are being held accountable for the two-fold risk of kidney failure, according to the 11-year-long reasearch at Harvard Medical School.
Messed up metabolism - Even just ONE can of diet soda a day is linked to a 34% hhigher risk of metabolic syndrome. The symptoms would include belly fat, (which people think diet soda helps to reduce it) and high colesterol which does in fact increase your risk for heart disease.
Obesity - Yes, it turns out diet soda doesn't help you lose weight after all! According to study from Texas Health Science Center, the more diet soda a person would drink actually increases the risk of that person becoming overweight. Drinking two or more cans a day can increase waistlines by 500%. Again lets blame the artificial sweeteners! Basically, people who intake diet foods might e more likely to overeat, and this is because the body is being tricked into thinking it's eating sugar. This is horrible because it can also lead to addiction to sugar which as we know any addictioin is extremely hard to break from.
Cell damage -Diet sodas have a special ingrediant that regular sodas don't have, how exciting! They have mold inhabitors which go by the names of sodium benzoate oe potassium benzoate, and they visit you in nearly all diet sodas. Now let me tell you why this extremely sucks if you drink diet soda daily. The chemicals inside can cause enormous amounts of damage to the DNA in the mitochondria to the point that they can completely inactivate it. Awkwardly we have been aware of this since 1999 even though it was presented through a British news source. Disastrously enough, the preservative has also been connected to hives, asthma, and other allergenic conditions.
Rotting teeth - Let's talk about pH levels really quickly. 0 being most acidic, 7 being dead center nuetral, and 14 being the most basic substances. (Also an example of a 7 would be water.) Diet soda, ladies and gentelmen have a pH level of 3.2, as you can imagine, that's very acidic. Acid is what dissolves your enamel (your enamel is what keeps your teeth from freezing your brain out when drinking moderately cold water or fairly cold ice cream). Diet soda drinkers have far more greater decay, more missing teeth, and more fillings than non soda drinkers according to the University of Michigan.
Reproductive tissues - One of my favorites, the anti-babymaker! This time it's any kind of soda, soft drink cans are coated with the endocrine disruptor bisphenol (BPA) which basically gives you a good enough reason to stop drinking soda, from cans at least. BPA has been linked from your favorites such as heart disease to obesity to reproductive problems. If that's a risk you're willing to take, please get help. If you don't see children in your future or life in this matter i recommend the finest of diet pepsi in your everyday lifestyle.
